This position works out of our Atlanta, GA location in the Heart Failure Division. In Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
The EHS Specialist will support multiple sites within the Heart Failure business unit under the direction and guidance of the EHS Manager. Working with little supervision, applies established EHS principles, practices, regulations and internal standards, interacts with customers and is solutions-minded in planning, directing and completing EHS assignments. Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
What You’ll Work On
Project Management:
Independently plans and conducts assigned projects;
Manages multiple, often concurrent, projects and meets deadlines;
Facilitates the definition of a project scope with stakeholders;
Independently performs feasibility studies related to project alternatives;
Develops schedules (with metrics if required) and seeks concurrence from stakeholders;
Responsible for achieving the project's targets or deliverable's.
Coordinate with stakeholders, and engineering operations to develop projects.
Oversee progress of the projects through various meetings.
Conduct capital expense requests and support requests for capital/ expense (RCE) checklists.
Technical:
Applies technical knowledge/skills to EHS programs and systems.
Anticipates future business/EHS needs and develops new skills as appropriate.
Benchmarks internally and externally.

Be able to manage permit requirements and documentation for wastewater and other environmental aspects as needed. Ensure proper documentation and data analytics, metrics associated with permits.
Manage hazardous and universal waste program.
Manage dangerous goods program (49-CFR and IATA).
Manage respiratory protection and industrial hygiene program.
Performs risk assessments and program self-assessments.
Provides oversight of hazard communication regulatory requirements and chemical safety.
Supports sites emergency response team.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental health safety, Engineering, Science, or closely related or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competencies.
Minimum 2 years relevant experience.
Demonstrate competencies within the following: Set Vision & Strategy, Anticipate, Innovate, Build and Deliver Results.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of desired EHS and/or operational experience.
Proficient in using MS Office and systems for data management and reporting.
Professional certification(s) desirable. ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM
